Chetumal is the capital of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located near the border with Belize on the western side of Chetumal Bay. Unlike the large resort centers farther north on the Caribbean coast, the city functions primarily as a government, commercial, and cultural center.

On the north-western coast of Sal Island in Cape Verde sits Palmeira, an authentic fishing settlement where day-to-day life still revolves around the sea. The village’s seaside restaurants serve grilled tuna, octopus, and flying fish fresh from the day’s catch. Just a short trip from the centre lies Buracona, a natural lava rock pool famous for the “Blue Eye,” a glowing underwater cave that shines when the sunlight hits at just the right angle.

Cayo Santa María is a small island off the north coast of Cuba, part of the Jardines del Rey archipelago in Villa Clara Province. It is connected to the mainland by a causeway crossing the shallow waters of the Bahía de Buenavista. The island is known for white-sand beaches, clear Caribbean water, coastal lagoons, mangroves, and low limestone terrain.

Santa Cruz de Mompox, better known as simply Mompox (or Mompós), draws many visitors to northern Colombia with its rich history, well-preserved colonial architecture, and several annual events including its Holy Week celebrations and the Mompox Jazz Festival.
