Baucau is Timor-Leste's second-largest city, located on the country's north coast on a plateau above the Ombai Strait. The city is surrounded by limestone hills, agricultural land, and tropical vegetation, with a cooler climate than the low-lying coastal plain below. Baucau is divided broadly into the older Vila Nova area and the historic Vila Velha, where colonial-era buildings, churches, and public spaces remain.

The Fann Mountains are a high mountain range in western Tajikistan, forming part of the Pamir-Alai system between the Zeravshan and Hisor ranges. Wadi Bani Khalid is a major valley in Oman's Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, extending from the Hajar Mountains toward the desert landscapes of the Sharqiyah Sands. It is known for its year-round watercourses, pools, rocky gorges, and clusters of date palms. Unlike many wadis that can become dry, Wadi Bani Khalid retains flowing water in parts of its upper valley, creating a green contrast with the surrounding arid terrain.

Glennallen is a small community in the Copper River Valley of south-central Alaska, positioned near the junction of the Glenn and Richardson highways. It serves as a regional service center for a widely scattered population and is surrounded by broad valleys, forests, wetlands, and distant mountain ranges. The Wrangell and Chugach Mountains rise around the wider region, while the Copper River and its tributaries shape the landscape.
