Dili
Dili is the capital and largest city of Timor-Leste, set along the country's northern coast between the sea and rugged mountain slopes. The city stretches around a broad bay, with beaches, government buildings, markets, residential neighborhoods, and busy streets forming its urban landscape. Mountains rise immediately south of the city, while the Ombai Strait extends north toward Atauro Island.
Atauro Island
Atauro Island is a mountainous island north of Dili in Timor-Leste, separated from the mainland by the Ombai Strait. Its landscape includes dry hills, forested slopes, grassy areas, rocky cliffs, and small coastal villages. The island is surrounded by exceptionally diverse coral reefs and clear tropical waters, making its marine environment one of its defining features.
Baucau
Baucau is Timor-Leste's second-largest city, located on the country's north coast on a plateau above the Ombai Strait. The city is surrounded by limestone hills, agricultural land, and tropical vegetation, with a cooler climate than the low-lying coastal plain below. Baucau is divided broadly into the older Vila Nova area and the historic Vila Velha, where colonial-era buildings, churches, and public spaces remain.
Adara
Adara is a small, remote village on Atauro Island in Timor-Leste, known for its quiet charm and deep connection to the sea. Nestled between steep mountain slopes and the turquoise waters of the Wetar Strait, the community lives largely from fishing and small-scale agriculture.
